Next Generation E-Mail
- January 20, 2007
Xynapse mail server upgrade completed. New features of MDaemon 9.5 include advanced anti-virus and spam blocking protection for all Xynapse email clients.
Spam defense, already strong, has been fortified to virtually eliminate current spam attacks, while adapting to evolving outbreaks.
Do you use Xynapse web mail? Click the "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" icons on incoming email to feed the Bayesian spam learning system and keep refining its adaptation to new variations.
New functionality and improvements include:
Multi-Threading Performance Boosts
Core message processing and content filter are now multi-threaded, meaning they can process many messages simultaneously rather than one at a time. Multi-threading performance improvements also apply to AntiVirus for MDaemon.
Spam Traps
Spam traps are local email addresses purposely designed to collect spam. A single RCPT to a spam trap address is all it takes to trip the spam trap system causing the message to be delivered to the Bayesian spam learning folder and banning future connections from the sending IP address.
Improved security with SecurityPlus
Combined with SecurityPlus, MDaemon email server provides the next generation of antivirus and spam protection. Providing powerful real-time spam and Zero Hour™ Virus Outbreak Protection from Commtouch in addition to the industry leading email antivirus protection from Kaspersky Labs, it is the number one solution for safeguarding your organization’s messaging and collaboration platform.
SecurityPlus Features
Zero-Hour Virus Outbreak Protection
Real-time, anti-spam, zero-hour anti-virus, anti-spyware, and anti-phishing technology. Capable of proactively protecting the MDaemon email infrastructure automatically and within minutes of an outbreak.
Outbreak Protection requires no heuristic rules, content filtering, or signature updates, but instead relies on the analysis of "patterns" associated with an email transmission and compares them to similar patterns collected from billions of email messages sampled daily, in real-time, from live Internet email traffic. The resulting analysis can detect outbreaks in "Zero Hour" -- much faster than traditional filter and signature based solutions that require detecting, defining, and disseminating new virus information.
Enhanced Kaspersky Antivirus Engine
Enhanced Antivirus protection from Kaspersky Lab combines traditional antivirus defense methods with the latest proactive technologies, providing solid and dependable protection against viruses and malware (malicious programs).
Recurrent Pattern Detection Technology (RPD)
Recurrent Pattern Detection (RPD™) technology detects and classifies all types of email-borne threat patterns in real-time. It extracts and then analyzes relevant message patterns, which are used to identify massive email borne outbreaks. It classifies both distribution patterns and structure patterns and the analysis results are stored in a vast warehouse of classifications.
RPD is designed to distinguish between the distribution patterns of solicited bulk emails, representing legitimate business correspondence, from those of unsolicited bulk emails by applying a reverse analysis. The results of this analysis are ‘bleached’ message patterns belonging to 'good' messages such as popular newsletters, mailing lists, etc.
RPD identifies nearly 100% of incoming threat messages with almost no cases of false positives. It is language-agnostic and is equally effective for all message formats and encoding types.
Inline Antivirus Scanning
SecurityPlus for MDaemon email server scans messages inline during each SMTP session effectively stopping malicious software at the email entrance to your network. When a corrupted message with a security threat is detected, SecurityPlus for MDaemon refuses to accept the email and its attachments – effectively stopping an issue before it can arise.
Urgent Update Notification
As always, continues to provides additional antivirus definitions beyond regularly scheduled updates. When a high-risk virus threat is identified by Kaspersky Labs, SecurityPlus is notified and triggered to automatically initiate a database update of the latest virus definitions to keep your organization safe from new and emerging threats.
